Becoming a Mason
The seeker’s path
Národ Lodge is a discreet association of gentlemen who seek in the lodge the conditions and support for spiritual work on themselves. The basic criteria for entering the Order:
- a man of mature age
- of good morals and reputation
- with a clean criminal record
- who acknowledges a higher authority
Questions & answers
Discreet does not mean secret.
Why are you called Národ? Does it signal a nationalist orientation?
No. The name arose in 1918–1919 after the magazine of the same name, from whose editorial circle most of the founding brethren came. We therefore do not translate the name even internationally: we are simply “Narod Lodge”, without nationalist connotations.
Do you accept foreigners?
Yes — our members include people whose mother tongue is not Czech. The official working language of the lodge is Czech, but we can communicate with foreigners as well.
Is or was Mr X. Y. a member of your lodge?
Our Order is a discreet organisation — no Mason will answer such a question about a living person; you may ask them directly. For deceased brethren, this website, the literature, or the research lodge Quatuor Coronati may help.
